4 out of 5 SME’s NEED HELP EXPORTING

Exporting should be hugely attractive for small businesses, but I’m afraid the fact is that we’re not actually doing as much exporting as we should be in the UK.

If you look at our figures it’s about one in five small businesses is an exporter. You compare that with Germany, they’re about one in four. So there’s a whole number of small businesses that could be exporting that aren’t currently.

I think that’s a missed opportunity because we’ve got great things that we can sell abroad and it’s really important to our future economic prospects that we manage to do that.

English is a common language so it gives small businesses a leg up in terms of communicating with their customers or potential customers abroad.

Another fact is that Britain is a great brand, so those businesses that have exported have a great reputation and potential exporters can build on that and actually take advantage.
