SME’s Can EXPORT WITH GREAT SUCCESS
There’s no doubt that there’s some risks that come with exporting, but I think if a small business or a medium sized business takes it in stages, they have a much better chance of success.
So I think the first stage is actually doing your research, finding out about those markets, know your products and know where it’s likely to sell well.
Secondly, have an opportunity to dip your toe in that market. So try and get one contract there so you can think about practically how will you deliver in that market and it will tell you a lot about how you expand operations later.
Thirdly, hopefully that goes with a bit of success and you can start to expand your thinking and think about what partnerships you want to make in those external markets.
And then fourthly, you’re starting to become an international business. You need an international strategy. The world is your oyster at that stage and you can think about expanding across the globe.
SME’s can export with great success if they take it in stages.
